Throughout my time working on For Honor (5+ years), we had a very small VFX team. On the main team FH team, we peaked at three vfx artist, but mostly a team of two. One of the big responsibilities our team had, was creating all the art and animation (excluding character animations) for the front end of the game. This video is an example of some of the menu work from various events.
These jobs were such a great learning experience. I dabbled in art direction, animation, really push my lighting and scene layout skills, etc. We even got to collaborate with contacted artist to bring their paintings to life.
As with almost any game dev, it's a team effort. Credit to Mathieu Martinet as he and and I were the principal vfx artists on For Honor.
